„Music is the melody to which the world is the lyrics“, Arthur Schopenhauer once said. For the people behind musikabendeGRAZ, in particular for creative mastermind, initiator, art director and chairman of the society Christian Schmidt, music itself is the world.
At the center of the classical chamber music concert series, which over the past five years has established itself as an integral part of the Styrian cultural landscape, is the piano – from solo to quintet.
Once again, 2013 will see four evenings dedicated to aural pleasure in the atmospheric setting of the Chamber Music Hall at the Congress Graz, right in the heart of the city. This year, works by Schubert, Janáček, de Falla, Richard Strauss, Hummel, Boellmann, Chausson, Bach, Schostakowitsch, Händel, Brahms, and Franck will be performed.
Internationally renowned musicians will make piano chamber music come to life at the highest artistic level in the 2012 season. Apart from Christian Schmidt masters of their craft such as Peter Matzka, Reinhard Latzko, the Trio Parnassus (consisting of Yamei Yu, Michael Groß and Henri Sigfridsson), Christoph Berner, Annemarie Ortner-Kläring, and Thomas Selditz will take to the stage.
